Our next two reports are on our Top Two Dogs All Breeds, both of whom posted BIS wins on Saturday.  We find that our readers, and fanciers in general, are becoming jaded, yawning at hearing that the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH AfterAll Painting the Sky, or the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse, have collected yet another big rosette.

The Wire Fox, Sky was in Tucson AZ at the hometown Tucson Kennel Club’s day one show, where judge Gary Anderson picked Sky out of a lineup that included the Clumber Spaniel, GCH CH Clussexx Collaboration with Traddles, the Harrier, GCH CH Downhome Hitech Innovator, the Portuguese water Dog, GCH CH Roseknoll Sunny Benjamin, his RBIS, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, CH Forestcreek Louisiana Lagniappe, the Dalmatian, GCH CH Kastle’s Go Speed Racer, and the Rough Collie, GCH CH Gentry’s About Face.

The PWD, Matisse, is spending the weekend in Chickasha OK where he topped judge Lorraine Boutwell’s final at Saturday’s Town & County Kennel Club show.  Also asking for judge Boutwell’s approval were the Brittany, GCH CH Rainbow Splash’s Ruggedly Handsome, the Longhaired Dachshund, GCH CH Raydachs Fire Down Below V Gleishorbach, the Dandie Dinmont Terrier, Aranisle’s Brute Force, the Pug, GCH CH Caper’s Sirius Endeavor, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Dawin’s Hearts on Fire, and her Reserve pick, the Puli, GCH CH Cordmaker Topsy Turvey.

To understand how extraordinary our top two are this year, consider that over the past five years, the Number One Dogs All Breeds,on the average, have won less than 50 percent of the finals in which they appeared.  Sky’s win was the 77th BIS in 129 trips to the final ring this year, a 60 percent success rate.   Matisse now has 82 Bests in 119 final appearances, an even better 69 percent.    So before we get too jaded, remember it may be a long time before we see another two dogs that dominate the race like these two.
